IBM Technology is helping excavators uncover ancient technology:

Left: Dr. Richard Paine and UTARP archaeologists entering data about the day's finds.
Right: Fulbright Scholar and Bryn Mawr graduate student Ellie Moseman entering artifact data and preliminary analysis.

The IBM Foundation generously donated ten Thinkpads to the UTARP excavation, enabling us to input digital images and other data collected from each day's work. The ability to digitally collect and process data allows us to work far more efficiently than would otherwise be possible, and is a tremendous aid in allowing us to quickly and accurately excavate Kenan Tepe before the rising waters of the Tigris cover this important site.
